An Enchantment Table is a vanilla Minecraft machine used to let users enchant their items at the cost of experience levels. It is one of the most expensive devices in Vanilla Minecraft, being made from a Book, two Diamonds, and four Obsidian. The Enchantment Table is used for a variety of crafting recipes in Mods, including Chunk Loaders, XP Turtles, and the Module Knowledge upgrade from Steve's Carts.
Mods like Thaumcraft and RedPower have also added new Enchantments that the Enchantment Table can add, such as disjunction which deals extra damage to Endermen. Other mods like MineFactory Reloaded, ComputerCraft and Thaumcraft provide better ways of farming experience, with items like the mob Grinder, Melee Turtle and Brain in a Jar, respectively.
The table can receive an enchantment boost when near a Bookshelf. The Magical Wood and Ender Core blocks from the Extra Utilities mod have this same ability, but will provide an even bigger boost.
