The Obsidian Transport Pipe is able to collect items from the ground, provided it is connected to exactly one other Transport Pipe or a chest. Applying power from Engines, Redstone Energy Conduits, or directly from a Redstone Energy Cell increases the range that it can collect items by 1 or more blocks, depending on the amount of power provided.
Redstone Engines gather up one item per stroke, while other engines gather multiple items up at a time. Without any power being provided to the Obsidian Transport Pipe, items must touch the pipe in order to be collected.
The Obsidian Transport Pipe can also extract items from the inventory of a minecart with a chest.
A much less expensive way to increase the effective range of an obsidian pipe is to use either streams of water or MineFactory Reloaded Conveyor Belts to move the item onto the Obsidian Transport Pipe without using any power.
Obsidian Transport Pipes will not connect to other Obsidian Transport Pipes, and cannot be made as Fluid Pipe or Kinesis Pipe.
