The Detector - Item is a machine added by Railcraft. It is used to check the inventories of Chest Carts, and apply a redstone signal if it matches defined criteria. It must be placed either adjacent to or underneath a piece of track, and emits the redstone signal on the side with the small square. When a cart goes over the track next to the detector, the inventory is checked and the detector determines if a redstone signal should be emitted. The block can be rotated using a Crowbar.
Right clicking the Detector - Item will bring up a GUI with several options.
- Not Empty - The Dectector will emit a redstone signal on any cart with an inventory that has an item in it.
- Empty - The Dectector will emit a redstone signal on any cart with an inventory that does not have any items in it.
- Full - The Dectector will emit a redstone signal on any cart with a full inventory. Note this does not necessarily mean all stacks are maxed out, but that there is no space for new items.
- Anything - The Dectector will emit a redstone signal on any cart.
- Filtered - Allows the detector to check for any given 9 items with any amount. You can drag an item into one of the slots to specify which item to check for, and left click to reduce the quantity and right click to increase the quantity. In addition, the Filtered setting has several settings unique to itself.
- At least - Only carts with at least the amount of items specified will cause the detector to emit a redstone signal.
- At most - Only carts that have the given amount of items or less will cause the detector to emit a redstone signal.
- Exactly - Only carts that contain the exact type and quantity of specified items will cause the detector to emit a redstone signal.
The Detector - Item is also used as a component of Item Loaders and Item Unloaders.
