Magic Hourglass is a block added by the Automagy 1 mod. It is an advanced version of Hourglass. By right-clicking it with a wand, the GUI can be opened, allowing the player to precisely set its parameters. Different options can be toggled in the GUI:
- The time it takes for the sand to fall can be precisely set by left-clicking or right-clicking the minute and second buttons, holding shift key will multiply edits by 10.
- The signal form can be toggled between Pulse, Negative Pulse, Constant, Alternating (15 or 0 depending on sand position) or Disabled.
- Reaction on reactivation can be toggled between Standart, Move Sand to Top and Move Sand to Bottom, the last 2 allow the timer to be restarted anytime.
- The need of signal can also be configured between: Flip Hourglass on receiving the signal, Prevent Timer will block the output on receivng signal, Required for Timer will do the opposite, Ignore will ignore input.
- Also the device can be toggled between normal mode and loop mode, in the last mode it will restart automatically after finishing previous operation.

Research aspects in this block[edit]
Thaumonomicon Entry[edit]
"The hourglass you designed is useful for delaying signals and producing redstone pulses but is lacking in some areas. Repetition, for one. Also, sometimes you want the timer to start from zero each time the hourglass is activated even if sand was already falling but this is impossible with mundane sand which must flow from where it left off.
To address these flaws, you've enchanted an hourglass with the ability to turn itself over repeatedly and the ability to instantly move its sand to the top (restarting the timer). If you so choose, it can instead move the sand to the bottom, ending the timer early without emitting a signal from the hourglass (and stopping the loop if it was set to repeat).
Additionally, there are several different signal modes. Pulse mode is as standard. Constant mode means a signal is sent the entire time sand is falling. Alternating mode is the same except it is sent only 50% of the time. Negative Pulse mode works as Constant mode except there is a brief period where no signal is sent when the glass turns itself over (if set to repeat). Disabled means no signal is sent at all.
The hourglass's reaction to receiving a signal (on any side but its left and right) can also be changed. By default, the hourglass flips each time it receives a new signal.
Another option is to have it only run when it is receiving a signal or only run when it isn't. Or it can ignore redstone signals altogether.
Finally, you can fine-tune the timer far better than before and its maximum length far exceeds that of the redstone hourglass. However, you will need to use your wand to do so (by right-click); this is no mere mechanical contraption adjustable by poking a stick into a hole and turning it."
