Hedge is a type of leaf block that is the sole component in the walls and structure of a Hedge Maze. Hedge cannot be crafted and cannot be found in any other location. Hedge is found in walls of the Hedge Maze that have a height of 3 blocks. These walls have hallways between them with gaps of 2 blocks for the player to walk through. Hedge will occasionally have vines running down the side, presumably to climb up the side of the Hedge Maze's walls. This can function as either a method of getting over the walls of the Hedge Maze or as a quick potential escape from monsters found in the Hedge Maze. However, such an action incurs a cost to the player.

Hedge damages the player when the player stands on the top face of a Hedge. This only applies to the top face in the most recent Twilight Forest version (1.15.3, used by the Mindcrack Pack) but in earlier versions such as those featured in Beta Pack A, Hedge will deal damage to a player coming into contact in any method with the Hedge. Hedge will also not have vines on its side for the player to climb. Hedge will also deal damage to any player who attempts to mine the Hedge for a time equal to or greater than 1/2 of a second. In both cases, the damage will be dealt at a rate of 1.5 hearts per 1/2 second, or 3 hearts per second, killing an unarmored player in 3.5 seconds. As Hedge requires around 6 seconds to mine with any unenchanted tool, this would be enough to definetely kill an unprotected player.

Only a tool with high-level enchantments makes any noticeable difference in the mining time, and by the time the player has high-level tools, it will not matter as the player can best the Hedge Maze without "cheating" by breaking the walls. Hedges are intended to keep the player from jumping over the walls of the Maze, although that is allowed at a cost. Hedges are also intended to prevent the player from going straight through and gathering the Hedge Maze's treasures.

If broken with Shears, this still holds true, as only a tool with the Silk Touch enchantment can yield the Hedge block.

The sprite of Hedge appears to be a much lighter and slightly more saturated version of the sprite for Darkwood Leaves.

Usage[edit]

Hedge has no known uses in crafting.
