Logistics Pipes is a BuildCraft add-on that allows one to build an advanced logistics network using a number of new pipes. Provider Logistics Pipes are used to provide and send items into the system upon demand from other pipes, either automatic ones such as the Supplier Logistics Pipe, or player-controlled ones like the Request Logistics Pipe. It is also possible to have items crafted automatically when necessary using Crafting Logistics Pipes.
A special kind of pipes are the Logistics Chassis, which can hold modules that give the chassis certain abilities. These modules are often equivalent in function to another logistics pipe, making it possible to combine multiple pipes' functionality into a single one.
As of Minecraft 1.5 liquids can also be handled by the logistics network to a certain extent, using a whole new set of Logistics Fluid Pipes.
Item Routing[edit]
Items are routed and requested in a Logsitics Pipes network in a specific way and this nomenclature is used throughout the documentation when referring to these functions.
Active vs Passive[edit]
A pipe or module that actively requests items will try to fill its attached inventory by sending out a request to any pipe or module that can supply that item, such as a Provider Logistics Pipe. A passive pipe or module will only act as a destination for an item that is already travelling in the network or for a pipe or module that actively looks for destinations such as a QuickSort module.
Priority[edit]
When there are multiple places for an item to go, the location that it ends up will be decided based on which destination has a higher priority.
Priorities are, with highest being first:
- A pipe or module configured to specifically accept a certain item
- A Terminus module configured for that item
- The default route, configured from a Basic Logistics Pipe
