Required Tool |
This machine allows the transformation of surplus organic matter into liquid Biomass, which can then be used to power Biogas Engines with a high degree of efficiency. The fermenting capabilities of this device may also be employed in the production of Short Mead, an alcoholic beverage, from drops of Honeydew and Liquid Honey. To power these biological processes, the Fermenter uses either Fertilizer, Compost or Mulch as catalysts, and water, Liquid Honey or Fruit Juice as a liquid source. The liquid products can be either canned, bottled (in the case of Short Mead) or extracted via waterproof BuildCraft pipes. This machine needs to be powered by a BuildCraft compatible engine.
When Biomass is further processed into Biofuel, a Still will process it with a 10:3 (30%) ratio, a Refinery will process it with a 4:1 (25%) ratio, and a Distillation Tower at a 2:1 ratio (50%).
Maximum MJ/t for the fermenter is 17MJ/t.
NOTE: IC2 Fertilizer does NOT work as a catalyst.

Usage[edit]
Fermenter (Forestry) can be used to create the following items:GUI[edit]
The Fermenter's GUI is divided into seven areas:
- I - Liquids Input Slot
- You can manually place liquid Cans, Capsules, Buckets, etc. in here in order to fill the Liquid Tank (II).
- II - Liquid Tank
- This tank will hold the source liquids, such as Water, Honey or Apple Juice.
- III - Organic Item Slot
- Fermentable resources such as Saplings can be placed in here.
- IV - Catalyst Item Slot
- For the fermentation process, you need a catalyst as well as an organic item to ferment. Fertilizer, Mulch or Compost can be placed in this slot and will act as a catalyst. They will last for more than one organic item.
- V - Output Tank
- The resulting Biomass or Short Mead will be stored in this tank.
- VI - Can Slot
- You can place Cans, Bottles, Buckets, etc. in this slot for them to be filled. Filled cans go to VII.
- VII - Can Output Slot
- Filled cans are placed in here. They can be either removed manually or through Pipes.
