The Drawbridge is a block added by Tinkers' Mechworks. It is used as a partial replacement for RedPower 2 Frames for making doorways and pathways. This device can send blocks in any direction, depending on the orientation it was placed in. The Drawbridge is less lag-inducing than Frames, and it hides the blocks completely, so it is not necessary to create a pocket for it. The major downside of the Drawbbridge is that all the blocks in a row must be the same type. This can be solved by using the Advanced Drawbridge instead.
The Drawbridge's GUI is simple: in the far left slot, one block represents what the Drawbridge will look like, and in the far right slot a player puts the blocks to be output, 1 block to set and another to output. ( i.e. if a player wants 2 blocks to be dispensed, they need to put 3 blocks in the far right and apply a Redstone signal.) In Tinkers' Mechworks 0.1.2 there are 5 additional buttons: four large arrows pointing in the cardinal directions and a tiny square in the middle. The use of this is to orient how some blocks (for example, stairs) will be placed.
The Drawbridge is controlled by a Redstone signal. It will place blocks out one at a time, starting from right next to the drawbridge block and going out from there. If the signal is cut off, it will pull blocks back in one at a time. Multiple drawbridges can work side-by-side. The drawbridge has an extension range of 15 blocks.
Note: Placing a lever on the Drawbridge will not only send a signal to the block, but make the block a source of Redstone signal, too. This is a common Redstone mechanics. This makes it possible to have three drawbridges work at once if the lever is placed on the middle one. Alternatively, a player can place Redstone beside drawbridges (or on top of them if the player is not sending the blocks upwards) .
The Drawbridge will never pick up any blocks it didn't place. A player can destroy blocks anywhere on the drawbridge and it will pull in the ones after the break.
A very useful thing that can be done with this item is usage in conjunction with Archimedes' Ships. Player can attach the drawbridge to the bottom of the ship and with the flick of a lever you can attach your ship to a building and Hijack the building.
